History of the Potomac Exiles Rugby Club
The Potomac Exiles are Division One Men’s Rugby Club, competing USA Rugby’s Mid-Atlantic Conference and located in the Washington DC Metro area. The was formed in the fall of 2014, when two former rivals, the Potomac Athletic Club (based in Washington DC) and Maryland Exiles (based in Bethesda / Silver Spring, Maryland), set aside the bruised shoulders and ribs, and decided to join forces.
Both clubs had a rich and rewarding history with a National Championship to their credit. However, after months of discussion, the teams decided that it would be best to set aside the rivalry in an effort to improve the standard of play in the Mid-Atlantic. Our players come from all over the DC metro area – Maryland, Virginia and within Washington DC city limits.
