PERC Falls in Final Match Versus Norfolk

In the final home match of the season, PERC took on a very talented and seasoned Norfolk Blues side. It was crisp fall Saturday, and both sides were energized for what was to be a great match. From the kick off, it was a hard fought match with strong tackling and offensive brilliance from both teams. Ten minutes in it was Norfolk on the board, who took the ball in from a pick and go 5 meters out, making 7-0. As play began again it was PERC’s strong defensive play in the midfield that stalled the Norfolk attack, but twenty minutes in it was Norfolk again on the board with a try. 14-0 Norfolk. Not to be outdone, PERC came roaring back five minutes later with a great through the hands, leading to a Kimble tap pass to Dom Tom who put it down in the corner of the try zone. The conversion was missed making it 14-5.

As the second half began, Norfolk was quickly on the board again taking advantage of a PERC scrummaging penalty inside the 22, 21-5 Norfolk. Minutes later it was Norfolk again who capitalized on a great series of long passing, 26-5 Norfolk. In a moment of brilliance, PERC dotted one down after Saint picked the ball off a ruck and did a behind the back pop pass to Kimble who took it in for the score, 26-12 Norfolk. Norfolk came roaring back ten minutes later with a try of their own after the ball was spun through the backs inside the PERC 22, 33-12 Norfolk. The final try of the match was put in by Kimble who shredded the Norfolk defense and took the ball in from 40 meters out. Final score, Norfolk 33 PERC 17.

We would like to thank all of our family, friends, and fans that have come out to support us on the season. It always great to play in front of a home crowd, and you all make it even better. Stay tuned for the announcement of our end of season holiday, which will be announced in the near future.

Finally, we would also like to send our best wishes our scrum half, Chris Saint, who played his final match in a PERC uniform. He and his lovely wife Abby are moving to Dallas in the new year. Chris has been a great addition to club, a true competitor, and even better teammate.
